The Single Life

Oh the single life. It’s something I constantly see tweeted, posted, “facebooked”, and “snapchatted” about. Tweets about wanting that “perfect two stepping guy”, or the “girl that cooks for you”, whatever it may be you’ll see a tweet about someone complaining to be single at least once during the week. The tweets you never see, or quite rarely see though are the ones about people genuinely enjoying their single life. Now don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have someone to two step with, or share a Saturday lunch with. I’ve been guilty of retweeting those said “complaining” tweets, but my happiness doesn’t and shouldn’t come from a guy and neither should yours. My happiness comes from God.

I’ve been single for a while now. It’s never really bothered me that I am, I was never the type of girl to get upset about not having a boyfriend. Why? Because I’m content knowing that when the time is right, God will bring me the person I’m supposed to be with. You see, I think so many people have this idea that “if I’m not dating someone, I won’t be happy.” That saddens me honestly. Psalms 37:4 says this, “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Its a simple verse, but its meaning resonates deeply. See, when you take delight in the Lord, you will find your true happiness. Not from a guy, but from the Lord. When you find yourself so deeply intertwined with God and his plans for your life, then that’s when you see that you’re truly the happiest.

You can take comfort in knowing that God knows what he’s doing and he does things for the good for those who truly love him. I know it sucks to be single, like I said before I find myself retweeting those sad single tweets, but singleness is not forever. In Genesis 2:18 God says this: “It is not good that the man should be alone, I will make a helper suitable for him.” God never meant for anyone to be alone. It may take 20 years, it may take 40, but no matter the length of time your person is out there for you.  Take the time to enjoy your single life. Use this time to grow closer to God, chase your dreams, and figure out who you are as a person. Become completely and utterly 100% happy alone, and with God (kind of contradicting bc with God you are never alone buttt) before you find happiness with someone else. Sooner or later God will place the person you’re meant to be with in your life. Have a great day and God Bless!!

With Love,

This is my first granddaughter and as I watch her grow into this amazing young woman I can’t help but to swell with pride. I watched her grow from the age of 2 and she was always the girl that needed nobody to make her feel secure in her skin. Tamia you are such an amazing and beautiful young woman and I am so proud to be your grandma (Nana Banana). Love you and you stay grounded in Gods word and you will always make the right choices in your life.
